Obregon Mexico

Back in 1973 I traveled to Mexico with a neighbor friend of mine she had family there and she needed to see them it had been several years. Her husband was handicapped and needed help getting dressed and to use the bathroom, so she asked me to go and help her with him. I decided that I would go it would be a learning experience and plus it was a foreign country I'd never been too.

I had to laugh when I noticed They drove anyway they wanted to, on the wrong side of the road and they'd blow the horn at you when you were in their way. They would stare at you and touch your clothes and ask you to show them a dollar bill, it was mostly kids that would ask but the parents were around too. I stepped out of the fenced yard to show them some money and Mrs Chaney's family had a fit they said I'd get mugged really quick, don't trust theses people so it put a fear in me and I never went out of the gate again by Myself.

Of course this isn't a picture of her relatives house but it is a house in Mexico. My reason for posting this is because I'd like to draw attention to how well we have it here in America. The folks in Mexico are pretty poor but they deal with it and live the best way they can. While I was in Mexico one of Mrs Chaney's relatives had a daughter about the same age I was, She was single and had her eyes on me. Her name was Inyocita very pretty name I thought, and a very pretty girl.

After I had been there for a few days we began talking She new a little English I new bery little Spanish but Mrs Chaney would interpret back and forth. She showed me her studio I forgot to mention to you that she made wedding dresses for a living and her money kept her family going most of the time. She was a hard worker and she could whip out a wedding dress in no time.

Soon her mother began calling my name to get my attention she would fold her arms as if she was cradling a baby rocking it back and forth she'd then point to me and then to Inyocita and smile really big and would say you Americana you make nice family I wasn't ready for any family life so I just said Na Na Na when her Mother started calling my name and cradling her arms.

I've often wondered what ever happened to Inyocita and If She was still making wedding dresses but I guess it's something I'll never know.
