Looks A Lot Like Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Shirley, My Sister has been buying gifts and the same with her husband. The kids are excited, as we use to be when we were kids. But that's been many moons ago. Oh how I miss Burl Ives, singing Frosty The Snowman and Elvis Presley, singing Blue Christmas, one of my favorites. I have a lot of memories, for this special time of the year and the songs were a big part of them. Shirley and I was sitting in the living room remembering some of them, they bring tears to the eyes and pain to our heart especially now, with Michael's passing and Mom, and Dad, getting older.

As we traveled back from April's, house who happens to be My Niece I noticed there seemed to be more Christmas lights on the houses this year. Yes there's more people participating in decorating for the Christmas Holidays. As I was growing up I liked looking at all the different lights and the ideas people could come up with on decorating for the Holidays. Mom usually fixed up the house on the inside she usually had a few red bells,with a few gold, or silver, bells along with a few model houses all lit up under neath the Christmas Tree. Mom loved the Holiday Season. Grandma My fathers mother was always there with Red Our step-Grandfather He was the Grinch more than Dad was really.

I don't remember a time when we actually opened our presents on Christmas Day,it was always Christmas Eve for some reason. As I sit here and type this out I can remember hearing the dolls crying to be fed or changed and the race cars screaming bye and bouncing off the baseboards of the hallway. I can here the whistle of the model train and smell the imitation smoke that rolled out of the smoke stack as it made it turn around the bend and went through the tunnel Robert and I made out of a shoe box. Yes I remember good times back then. This time every year I re-live those special memories and dream of being there once again listening to Burl Ives, sing Frosty the Snow Man and Bing Crosby's Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire.
