Birthday For Diane
Diane had been thinking of her thirtieth birthday for a few weeks now. To her thirty seemed so old. There just wasn't a celebration in her this year. Usually she's ready to jump in at the first opportunity to celebrate.
But this year, becoming thirty, she wanted to skip the whole thing. Diane, dreading her birthday, picked up the telephone to make a quick call to her boss to call in sick for the day. Her coworkers were planning a surprise birthday party for Diane, but Diane calling in sick made them call off the party until Tuesday. The coworkers gathered together and decided that the party would be rescheduled for the following day. They decided to decorate the office immediately after hours this evening.
The girls went to the party store and bought some crape paper, balloons, ribbons, and streamers. They decorated the office to the tee, showing the love they have for Diane. Linda knew how Diane was feeling about her birthday. She wanted to decorate in a way that Diane could see you could still celebrate a thirtieth birthday and make it turn out to be lots of fun using balloons, streamers, and crape paper. And what a fun birthday party it was.

It's good to have friends like that in your life. Thanks for posting.
Milestone birthdays always suck big time and different people view them in different ways. great in your story how sensitive the friends were to attempt to include the festivities but also allow Dianne to enjoy it her way.
AS far as the structure and flow of the story goes - I 'd love to see your next edit - the story is there - just needs tightening up and polishing - this entry is exactly what FF is about - blood on the page - the ideas are down - so well done.
I weakly attempted poetry this time as I have made a commitment to exploring different writing styles over the next few months.
