Smoke Smoke Smoke That Cigarette

     Back when I was in High school I always made sure to have my smokes for the day. Good thing I worked for my father at his service station.  It's the only place where I could get my cigarettes.  I figured I had  earned them since I worked mostly without being paid.

     Mom and Dad told me the smokes would eventually take my breath away and that I could die if I smoked em long enough. But this was in the early sixties they were just figuring out that smoking was deadly.

( Forty years later)

     The alarm clock wakes me up so I could get up and get ready to see our doctor I haven't been able to rake the leaves out at the park like I use too I rake a small pile of leaves and take a small rest to catch my breath. Finally the doctor came in with the x ray of my lungs He told me that I have C.O.P.D. and that it is now time for a life style change.

     I went home and emptied all my ash trays threw the ash trays in the garbage and smoked my last two cigarettes the first step into becoming a non smoker. It's now been four years I'll never go back top smoking because I don't want to die casping for breath and I'm a lot healthier, and I Smell a lot better too Just think of the money I'll save, that thought alone makes me want to never smoke again.
