A Special Camera

This morning I was reading the local newspaper and noticed an advertisement for a contest The pen and Ink Rotary Club is having. They're looking for new members to join they're writing club. The requirements were to write an essay or a poem describing what one item would you grab if your house were on fire...This is what I came up with...

A Special Camera To Me

If my house was on fire and there was only one item I could save it would have to be a camera my older sister Shirley once gave to me. This camera sends my mind back to once when I was young there are so many memories of the things that we had done. Camping trips, Disneyland, even the Grand old opry, traveling across route 66 no longer a reality,

but still the highway we had traveled to see our distant family. Barbeque's, Volleyball, we even swam the great Cumberland Lake. This camera holds lots of memories in the pictures my father would always take. So if my house were on fire and there was only one item I could save. It would have to be the camera my older sister Shirley once gave to me.

Lisa said...: A camera huh? That's a great idea. I had always thought that if my house went up in flames, the first thing I'd go for would be the photographs. All those memories in print...can't get them back once they've gone. So, it's kinda the same thing.

Trouble is, I have SO many photos now, they almost fill an entire wooden chest...and moving that sucker out of the house will not be easy! lol
