The Willow Tree
Little Jessica was standing next to the Juniper bush calling out "ninety eight, ninety nine, one hundred". "Ready or not, here I come", she said yelling loud enough that the other children could hear. She saw the plastic wading pool laying upside down. She just knew someone was under it, hiding from her. She gave it a kick to turn it over, sure enough she found Jacob, the first one to be caught.
Jessica's big brown eyes were darting all around, looking for places she thought would be good for hiding in. She saw Tommy crawling in the high saw grass just a little way from the old classic car her dad had parked up against the brick wall decades ago. Tommy thought he had the best spot of all but Jessica foiled that thought quite rapidly.
Jessica though, remembered the willow tree that grew so big and full of shade and cover. She ran across the field quickly to the tree, she knew this would be a good hiding place. As she slowly creeped around the trunk of the tree she lost her footing and fell into a hole that had been there forever, but nobody knew of it. Startled and confused, she jumped up quickly looking around. She saw a different world of pastel colors and a light purple sky, gum drop roads and unicorns that fly, fireflies and grasshoppers big enough to ride dazzled Jessica's big brown eyes. Plenty to do, she wanted to share with her little friends too

I like the build up and then the left turn to a fantasy element.
Nicely done.
This is a very nice piece. I enjoyed reading it. Thank you for sharing.
Cute piece, it could turn sinister if the fantasy world isn't all it appears to be.
