Carry On Tuesday

I remember when I met my first wife, Louise. I found it very odd that she had never been anywhere in the world other than Bakersfield, California. My brothers and sisters and I, eight altogether, were lucky when we were kids. Our mother and father took us everywhere. I, having been all over the United States, even deep into the country of Mexico, found it very strange that she had never been out of Bakersfield. I had been through every state of the Union except Hawaii. I've been to the Grand Ole O pry twice, every national park you can think of, Disneyland, Disney World, Magic Mountain, Knots Berry Farm, etcetera, etcetera.

When I found out she had never been to the beach and had never seen the ocean ever before in her life, I had to take her there. My mother and father owned an apartment just a block or two from the beach. I took her with me to Pis mo Beach, California to let her see the ocean for the very first time in her life. Louise and I walked to the beach every day, she simply loved it. She grew excited and loved the weekend we had together.

Soon, right after we were married, I decided she needed to see the Painted Desert, so we went to Arizona to look at a couple of jobs my father and I were going to be doing there in Arizona. I took my wife with me, she loved Phoenix,Tucson, and the Painted Desert, she loved Arizona.

She had never seen it snow before. Since Dad and I had a couple of jobs coming up in Denver, Colorado, we took her with us. We lived in Denver for just about a year. She was like a little kid when it snowed, she loved to play in it and loved driving in it also.

Louise was full of life and loved the outdoors. She had never been to a drive in movie theater. There were several things that she just never got to do when she was a child or even a teenage girl. As a child her family life wasn't a good life at all. Her father was an alcoholic and her mother was a drug addict and left the home when she was a young child. She grew up pretty much on her own with nobody watching over her.

My father loved to tease Louise because she was pretty gullible at times, she'd believe anything Dad told her. When we first got to Denver he said too her, “Louise, you must always remember to never eat the yellow snow.” She didn't understand why he said that until one day we were standing outside looking at the beautiful scenery around the house and out across the countryside it, was a very beautiful place where we all lived. One of the dogs decided to pee just a few feet in front of her it turned the snow yellow, of course she busted a gut laughing when she saw the yellow snow, she looked at me and said, “Now I know what Dad meant.”

Louise and I were married for several years. She loved traveling and visiting new places. This has become a regular thing for her to do. To this day, she is always traveling to some place she has never been before or back to a place that she has become very fond of. So I guess I would say to her "My hands open the curtains of your being."

that's a great story and the fact that she is your ex makes it awesome. You truly opened up her curtain. hope she still appreciates it.
